Healthy Khapli Wheat Pao Bread

Khapli Pao with Flourish Foods Khapli Atta


Soft, fluffy, and wholesome, this Khapli Pao is made using Flourish Foods Khapli Atta, giving a nutty flavor and better nutrition compared to regular wheat bread. These homemade pao buns are light, airy, and perfect for serving with curries, making pav bhaji, or turning into delicious garlic and cheese rolls.

Ingredients

·       Flourish Foods Khapli Atta – 720 gm

·       Yeast – 2–5 tbsp

·       Sugar – 2 tbsp

·       Salt – 2 tsp

·       Oil or Melted Butter – 1/3 cup

·       Warm Milk – 2–3 cups (as needed)

Instructions

1. Activate the Yeast

·       In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast.

·       Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy. This indicates the yeast is activated.

2. Prepare the Dough

·       In a large mixing bowl, add Flourish Foods Khapli Atta and salt.

·       Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture.

·       Add melted butter or oil and gradually mix to form a dough.

3. Knead the Dough

·       Knead the dough for about 10–12 minutes until it becomes soft, smooth, and elastic.

4. First Proofing

·       Cover the dough with a damp cloth or lid.

·       Let it rest in a warm place for about 1–1.5 hours, or until the dough doubles in size.
(Resting and proofing are very important for soft pao.)

5. Divide and Shape

·       Punch down the dough gently to remove air.

·       Divide it into equal-sized portions and shape them into smooth balls.

6. Second Proofing

·       Place the dough balls close together on a greased baking tray.

·       Cover and allow them to rest for another 30–40 minutes until they puff up.

7. Bake the Pao

·       Preheat the oven to 175°C.

·       Bake the pao for 30–35 minutes until the tops turn light golden brown.

8. Cool and Serve

·       Brush the tops lightly with butter for extra softness and shine.

·       Allow the pao to cool slightly before serving.

Garlic & Cheese Rolls (Optional Variation)

Turn the same Khapli Pao into delicious garlic rolls.

Ingredients

·       Prepared Khapli pao buns

·       Cheese slices or grated cheese

·       Garlic herb butter

Method

1.     Slit each pao bun in the middle.

2.     Add cheese inside the slit.

3.     Pour or brush garlic herb butter on top.

4.     Heat in the oven or pan for about 3 minutes until the cheese melts.

Serve warm for a flavorful, cheesy snack.
